The Feldenkrais Method

The Feldenkrais Method is a form of somatic education that uses gentle movements and directed attention to improve movement and enhance human functioning – whether you want to be more comfortable sitting at your computer, playing with your children and grandchildren, performing a favorite pastime, or achieving athletic excellence, these gentle lessons can improve your overall well being.

We work with your ability to regulate and coordinate your movement, which means working with the nervous system and the whole person. With this Method, you can increase your range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. Students become aware of their habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities, and learn to move in new ways.

Everyone, from athletes and artists to administrators and attorneys, can benefit from this practical, functional work: learning to move with less effort makes daily life easier, no matter what you want to do. Because the Method focuses on the relationship between movement and thought, increased mental awareness and creativity accompany physical improvements.

The Feldenkrais Method is for anyone who wants to reconnect with their natural abilities to move, think, and feel.

With the Feldenkrais Method you can learn to:

– ease chronic problems and minimize pain
– enhance your flexibility, balance and coordination
– develop greater awareness and focus
– reduce stress and fatigue in your life
– improve cognitive abilities such as thinking and problem solving

I am authorized by the Feldenkrais Guild of North America to teach the Method in its group form Awareness Through Movement, and in individual sessions called Functional Integration® lessons.
